Lagos shuts hotels, churches over pollution
The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has intensified its crackdown on businesses and institutions violating environmental laws, sealing multiple establishments across Surulere, Lagos Mainland, Agege, and Kosofe. The enforcement operation targeted noise pollution and the illegal siting of gas refilling plants in residential areas, both of which pose serious risks to public health and safety. Speaking on the crackdown, LASEPA’s General Manager, Dr Babatunde Ajayi, emphasised the agency’s resolve to maintain environmental order. “Environmental infractions, including noise pollution and the illegal placement of gas refilling plants within residential areas, endanger lives and disrupt public peace,” he said. “Our enforcement efforts aim to restore order and ensure compliance with the state’s environmental regulations.
